The first snows of winter herald the charming seasonal tradition of "Sapporo White Illumination".Since 1981, when 1,000 light bulbs were used to illuminate Odori Park 2-chome Plaza, the scale and contents have increased year by year, making this tradition into a nationally-acclaimed event.
At the O'Dori Park Site, sculptures symbolize themes such as the starry skies and Christmas. Twinkling lights adorn trees along SapporoEkimae-dori to the north and south, and Minami 1-jo-dori to the east and west.
